The Facebook Pixel

What is it, what can it do & why you need to implement it!

Ok, so in really basic terms - your Facebook Pixel is a bit of code, that you install onto your website (This used to be a task and a half but Facebook have made it super easy for us all 🙌)

So it’s a bit of code that we add to our website. It’s an analytics tool, that’s free as well by the way - happy days I hear you say?… that allows us to measure and understand the actions that people take on our website. 

What does the Facebook Pixel do?

So the Facebook pixel tracks website visitors actions that they take on your website. 

So it tracks things like: 

  • Website visitors in the last 180 days

  • People that added products to their cart

  • Those that made a purchase

  • Those that didn’t make a purchase

  • Those that signed up to your email lis

You get the jist right? So it let’s us track our marketing efforts and see the data in Facebook Events Manager (all of this is covered in my online Facebook Ads Course btw). 

Tracking Website Users Activity is Super Helpful

An example of why tracking these events could be useful could be: Say that out of 100 website visitors, 60 added to their cart, and only 25 purchased. 

This might make you think, and encourage you to look at your systems in place and figure out why out of 100 visitors why did only 25 purchase 🤔 What could be improved? Could the customer journey be better? Could the checkout process be slicker?

So it certainly gets you thinking and analysing your systems in place and what can be done to increase conversions/sales/ opt-ins/ booked calls etc like:

  • An Easier Checkout Process

  • Faster Website Speed

  • An Order Bump that they can’t resist to help convert the sale

Track & Target

Now here’s what is even cooler. Not only can we TRACK website visitors actions on our website. We can TARGET with Facebook Ads. 

We can target all of our website visitors in the last 180 Days - but we can also do so much more than just this….

  • We can target anyone who added to their cart but didn’t purchase. 

  • We can target those that did purchase with a NEW PRODUCT

  • We can target anyone who made it to the checkout page in the last 7 days.
