Set up Two-Factor Authentication on Facebook

Protect Your Business Facebook Account from Hackers

Whether you’re running Facebook Ads or not, if you have a Facebook Business Page you should want to protect your account from anyone as best you can. Facebook do have measures in place to help you protect your accounts, pages and information (including card details if you have them linked up to your Facebook Ads Account)

However, just because Facebook has these measures in place for security - doesn’t mean they’re instantly set up for your profiles. You need to set these up yourself. You want to set up multiple versions of Two Factor Authentication on your business manager account - and in the video below I show you how to set this up.

This isn’t something you want to put off, setting this up should only take 5-10 mins at most, and it could be the difference of you getting your account hacked or not.

What you need: Log into Business Manager: business.facebook.com

Your mobile phone, and an authenticator app downloaded (if you don’t have one I use Google Authenticator - This App is Free)

Google Authenticator - iPhone: Click Here | Android: Click Here

Facebook will be making 2-factor authentication mandatory for high risk accounts, and no doubt it will roll out across all accounts. So take time to set this up, don’t see it as extra hassle, see it as extra security.

Set-Up Steps to Follow

So, how do you turn on two-factor authentication for Business Manager? Steps to turn on two-factor authentication:

Start by going to Business Settings.

  1. Click on Business Info.

  2. Scroll down to Business Options.

  3. Click the dropdown menu next to Two-Factor Authentication.

  4. Select Admins only or Everyone to choose who this requirement applies to. (I recommend everyone)

Make sure you’ve turned this on for all Business Manager accounts you are associated with.

✨One thing to note is this, once you've turned on two-factor authentication for your Business Manager, the required users must also turn on two-factor authentication for their Facebook account to access Business Manager.

If you want to look at/check/set up these ways of verifying yourself and protecting your account. Then within the same page as Business Info - scroll down to ‘My Info’ and look for ‘Security’ and click on “Control how you’re sent your code

This will take you to a new page (as seen in the video above) and you can add your mobile number to add as a verification method along with the authenticator app (as mentioned above and in the video)

You can also set up 2-Factor authentication for your personal Facebook Profile and Instagram Page. Protect your account from hackers.
